WCG Connect Wi-Fi: HomeOfficeIQ Features
What is HomeOfficeIQ?
HomeOfficeIQ is a temporary cellular backup solution that helps keep essential devices connected during an unexpected Internet outage. It works through your WCG Connect Wi-Fi system and automatically switches to a mobile hotspot when an outage is detected.
How does HomeOfficeIQ keep me connected during an outage?
- Continuously monitors your Internet connection and detects when an outage occurs.
- Alerts you to turn on your cellular hotspot when an outage is detected.
- Automatically connects to your mobile hotspot in approximately 90 seconds once the hotspot is turned on.
- Automatically switches back to your primary Internet connection once service is restored — no action required.
- Sends notifications through the WCG Connect Wi-Fi app when backup activates, fails to activate, or your primary connection is restored.
What devices can use HomeOfficeIQ?
HomeOfficeIQ supports both wired and wireless devices connected to your Connect Wi-Fi system. You can choose which Wi-Fi networks or devices to prioritize, including:
- Work-from-home devices
- Online learning
- Security systems
- Medical equipment
What can I do while using cellular backup?
While running on mobile backup, you can continue using your Internet for activities such as:
- Email and messaging
- Web browsing
- Video calls, although quality may be reduced
High-bandwidth activities such as HD streaming, gaming, and large downloads may be degraded while using cellular backup.
What do I need to use HomeOfficeIQ?
You’ll need:
- A GigaSpire system
- The WCG Connect Wi-Fi app
- HomeOfficeIQ enabled by WCG
- A mobile hotspot or smartphone with an active data plan
Standard cellular data rates and hotspot rules apply.
Does HomeOfficeIQ replace my regular Internet connection?
No. HomeOfficeIQ is designed as a temporary backup solution, not a whole-home replacement for your primary Internet connection. It is intended to keep essential devices connected for a short period during an unexpected outage.
Will HomeOfficeIQ use my mobile data?
Yes. Cellular backup uses your mobile data plan. Check with your mobile provider for applicable data limits and potential hotspot charges.
