Co-operatives are business organizations owned by the members who use their services.
The Company's profit is equity that is shared by members based upon the amount of business they did with Westman, each year. All earnings (profits) belong to you, the members, and each year, in accordance with Co-operatives Charter Bylaws, these earnings increase the members' equity in the company.
Westman reinvests each owner's equity into its cable systems, which enables Westman to add new television and other services, and to remain competitive. Westman differs in this respect from other suppliers of television services in Manitoba and across Canada.
This is a critical difference: your membership in Westman directly benefits you and your community.Westman member benefits also include:
- The right to run for a position on the Board of Directors.
- The right to vote for the Board of Directors.
- A voice at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and other special meetings.
- The opportunity to be a member of the Community Media Committee (CMC), which manages WCGtv, your local access channel.
- Receiving a yearly statement of your equity, annual reports and other information about the Co-operative.
